Nottingham's A52 is set for a major makeover, but it comes with a catch! The road will undergo essential resurfacing and marking refreshment, but this means closures and potential disruptions for drivers.
National Highways is taking on the task of revitalizing the A52 between the Bardills Roundabout and Bramcote Island. This operation will result in the closure of the eastbound carriageway from Bardills to Bramcote and lane two westbound in the opposite direction.
The work is scheduled to commence on February 2nd and last until February 6th, with overnight closures from 8 pm to 6 am. This stretch of road is no stranger to maintenance; it was previously closed for three weeks in November 2024 for drainage enhancements.
But here's where it gets interesting: National Highways is also working on another significant project on the A52 in Nottingham. They've implemented a one-way system between the QMC and Priory Island roundabouts, which involves resurfacing, and constructing a new cycleway and footway.
And this is the part most commuters will appreciate: these improvements aim to enhance safety and accessibility for all road users. However, it's a delicate balance between progress and inconvenience.
What's your take on these roadworks? Are they a necessary evil for better infrastructure, or could there be a more efficient approach? Share your thoughts below, and let's spark a conversation about the challenges of maintaining our road networks!
