Our tests revealed some impressive numbers. The display shines with a maximum brightness of around 605 nits, and an auto maximum of 1,524 nits in bright conditions. The true peak brightness, measured in a 10% window, is an astonishing 3,317 nits! This means you'll have no trouble using your phone even under the brightest sun, and HDR videos will look absolutely stunning.
The 12-bit color depth ensures virtually no color banding, and the DCI-P3 color support is a real bonus. The refresh rate is adjustable, with a default adaptive mode that dynamically switches between 30Hz, 60Hz, 90Hz, and 120Hz, depending on the content and app. There's also a custom mode, allowing you to lock the panel at 60Hz or choose specific apps to run at up to 120Hz.
When it comes to HDR, the display is HDR10+ certified, and while it lacks the Dolby Vision support of its Pro sibling, it can still decode all major HDR formats. With Widevine L1 DRM certification, streaming services like Netflix can deliver high-resolution content, making the most of the display's native resolution.
But here's where it gets controversial... The Redmi Note 15 5G's battery life is excellent, with a substantial 5,520 mAh battery. It scored over 14 hours in our Active Use Score tests, with great results across the board, except for gaming, where it struggled a bit. Charging is a breeze with 45W wired fast charging, and the phone can even be used as a power bank with its 18W reverse wired charging support.
And this is the part most people miss... The Redmi Note 15 5G offers battery protection features, including a fixed 80% charge limit or a 'Smart Charging' mode that learns your habits and caps charging at 80% when needed. A truly intelligent feature!
Now, let's talk about the speakers. The Redmi Note 15 5G features a stereo setup, but the channel balance is excellent, and the audio quality is respectable, with a wide soundstage and rich mids. For the best audio experience, we recommend keeping the volume at or below 100%. The phone gets loud at maximum, but the quality suffers. The Redmi Note 15 5G offers Dolby Atmos support and a graphic equalizer, allowing users to customize their sound experience.
Connectivity-wise, the Redmi Note 15 5G is a dual Nano-SIM device with SA/NSA 5G support on both slots. It lacks eSIM support, and the microSD slot is a hybrid, meaning you can use either a second Nano-SIM or a storage card. Positioning includes GPS, GLONASS, BDS, and GALILEO, and local connectivity is slightly below the Pro 5G's, with dual-band Wi-Fi ac/5. Bluetooth 5.3 is included, and some markets offer NFC. There's no 3.5 mm audio jack or FM radio, but an IR blaster is present, located on the top frame.
